    Re: Saltamontes

I think that I would not build another trike without suspension. The roads around here are not the smoothest and the only thing that the suspension does is that instead of receiving a solid hit to...

  4. Re: Does suspension sap/absorb our energy cranking?

It is all about spinning! If you are bouncing up and down, you should down shift and spin faster, you will not be bouncing up and down nearly as much. In particular if you use cleats, because then...

    Re: Saltamontes

By the way, the last picture is of my storage. The Viking should start seeing more activity now that the weather is getting nicer. My wife does not like to ride when it is cold :D

    Saltamontes

I started building a tadpole trike. I found a can of green paint in my storage, so I decided to call it the grasshopper, but in Spanish, thus Saltamontes.

If you remember my tilting trike and if...

Re: first build - killer tiller

I think that would be the easiest way to go about it. It would need almost no extra materials.

Re: Building TWO Vikings this summer!

I am glad to see more progress :) This thread is one of my favorites :D I am actually thinking about pirating your idea for the front axles. We'll see :D

Re: to slime or not to slime.

I don't like them! Not only, they puncture as any other tube, it is gross to change them :D

    Re: viking transmission

Awesome! My wife and I used to get frustrated on the hills, but once we changed the transmission, it became really fun. The captain never has problems, in a hilly area, the stoker would need to be an...

    Re: "Kick-Stop Scooter"

In my books that goes like an awesome cool idea :) Keep us posted!
  15. Re: Did anyone here ever just install front brakes and no rear brake on the Warrior?

Brad designs have basically zero brake steering. I can stop my viking (with both my wife and I on it) with only one of the front brakes without having any brake steer. I normally use both hands, but...

    Re: Fish, anyone?

No, actually, that's why I left the 1" gap on the top of every side :) Even with the water close to 80°F, no steam :)

Brad: The other thing you could look into is to do the back with plywood and waterproof it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdyANDq_x_s

I took advantage of Petco's sale. $1 for each gallon is a pretty good deal :)

    Re: Fish, anyone?

Oh, the ban is certainly a temporary thing :D The velomobile is still a plan for next summer. But we will have to move within a year, so the least vehicles we have to move, the better :)

    Fish, anyone?

During Labor Day weekend my wife and I decided to work on a project. Since, my trike is working perfectly fine and she has banned me from making another one, we decided to work on a coffee table. Not...

Re: Man Runs Over Own Hand During Parade!

Sir J! You don't injure yourself playing with powertools and you get injured while riding... That's maybe a good thing, powertools would do more damage. Hope you get well soon!

Re: The Lobster - tilting off road trike

A disc brake works. That's what I have on mine. Not unclipping at the intersections is one of the great things about trikes, wouldn't like to loose that :D
  24. Re: Another noob build thread, with a fair number of photos

It's cool to see how your welds keep getting better and better as the bike progresses :) It's going to be a nice bike!!!

Re: front wheels off 5 degrees

Now I feel like a jerk, for advising you to cut it all :D I am glad the others had better options :) I did try to do what you did once and I guess I over did it, because then I ended up with negative...
