    If your Bottom Bracket is an old fashioned one with loose ball bearings & cups, you could just fit the axle the 'wrong' way round.

    I'd hazard a guess that being from a BMX, your chainring & chain are 1/2" pitch, whereas your sprocket is 3/8" off another bike.
