I just had to join in. There is way to much fun going on in here! I'm a diehard DIY'er and love a challenge. I clearly see this is where it at. Being a mechanic by trade and loving bicycles I really could find a better place to be. I'm hoping to contribute a few drops to the vast ocean of great ideas in here.

Deep in the woods of Rhode Island,

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!! I would love share the pics I have.I just have to figure out where they should go...I'd hate to post them in the wrong place. I'm always looking to see what others have for ideas too. I've actually just completed my first build. It's a Victory Red Warrior. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I also found a few different steps I used on the head tubes which seems to be a pretty hot topic. I will post them in the proper place so that everyone can point and laugh :) I started collecting for my second build before I finished the first one! I'm shooting for a rear suspension with front disc brakes on another Warrior.

I'm also in RI and am starting a Kyoto Cruiser to ride on the East Bay Bike Path. We're shortening the wheel base so it will fit in the Honda van so we can take it elsewhere to ride. Using 24" rear wheels. Am learning stick welding and having a blast! Will post pics when I have something to show. This is a great group!

You could open a Picasa account or some other free picture storage like Vimeo or photobucket and then post a link via your signature. Then refer to that link when you have updates and such.
You can also post up to 4 photos per posting using Insert image off the edit bar in the reply box. The link to picasa is how I do my photos of my build.

Yes, River, it is very addicting! I am mid-60's and have built lots of stuff including boats and airplanes but this hacking thing is a blast! Also, engineering the build such as exactly where the steering should go, seat position, etc. is fun.
It's always good to have new challenges to keep the fires of creation stoked.

New guy from Northern RI, here. Found AZ about a year ago and I check in regularly to see what's been happening in the bike hacking world.
I've been working on a viking, which currently is buried under 4 feet of snow (you New England'ers know what I'm talking about). I'll take some full size pictures when I find it again.

The frame is out there, somewhere, under all that snow. I can't even get the welder outside.

This snow is all your fault. Vikings love snow!

I think it is all in the Latitude folks. The further away from the Equator the colder it is. Speaking of which it is suppose to hit 79F here today. Already 60F. So it is already the UK mid summer temps here in Arizona. Of course it is a choice of careers and life styles that place us where we live. So don't be jealous. You have a choice.

Ken, We are not all Vikings!!! Got snow here in Beijing today---totally unexpected! The world weather has gone mad, so we must (big brother says we must) blame it on global warming, even if we are getting colder.
But this bike thing is a bit addictive---even if you don't need another bike there is always a good reason to build one.
So, excusing bad manners, this should say---Welcome from Beijing---Have fun, build anything, but aslways share the pics!

Me again,
I originally intended to answer this post as a a bit of an argument.
I question the pothole state tittle. I thought that belonged to Blacktown, NSW , Australia. It did when I lived there, and nothing has changed since I lived there! (Many years ago!) We rated it as accessible only by 4WD

Hi Steve,
For the record during the winter I do drive my 4WD :) I might lose a wheel or damage the front end on my car. Though lately I haven't seen the roads with all the snow we've had. As for Blacktown I haven't been there and by the sounds of it I think that might be why they call it the "Outback"? I might still get to keep the pothole state isn't Blacktown a city?

Hi Bentwelder,
Welcome to AZ.... Nice work on your adjustable suspension ! Always a plus when you can change caster/camber when the welding cools down. I have a rear suspension Warrior in the garage if I can get back to it. My kids diverted me with a project... Electrifying a kettler car :) 24v. see you around.....
