Sometimes our cuts just arn't straight.. or something just isn't right when we try to line the up to weld...

We grind... straighten... grind... straighten...

There is an easier way if you have a jig and a Sawzall...

Clamp everything STRAIGHT and as tight as you can get it..clamp it TIGHT...

Now Run a Sawzall THROUGH THE JOINT.

Where the edges don't touch, there is nothing for the Sawzall to cut...where the pieces are "high" the Sawzall will take a STRAIGHT cut out...

Now Loosen the clanps and see if you can join the pieces now...

It might take multiple passes, but this makes for near perfect joints BEFORE welding...

The only problem is that while the joint may be perfect, the length could end up a bit short :D

Since the joint is already needing something, and you are only taking a "blade width" it works well. If found that if I used my grinder I took more, and it took longer...
