Got one of these at home , but converted to gas. (other brand, same difference). Don't use it a lot. I prefer using TIG

Disadvantages.
Uses only small expensive flux cored wire-spools.
The small, cheap pistol is fragile, and tends to get very hot in continued use.
The 4 ampere settings are annoying.
The weak wirefeeder motor struggles with even normal operation.

Takes a lot of money extra for convertion to gas.

Hi there

Go here :-

http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/index.php

read every think that you can on welders , lots of good impartial advice and help if you have problems.

I made the mistake of buying a Cosmo/SIP welder , nearly put me off building bikes for ever !

General opinion is the Clarke MIG welders are good hobby welders.

Gasless means you can weld outside if you have too and don't need to buy any gas.

Gas means you have to weld inside , but welds are much nicer and there is less clean up.

Gas can be Co2 from a pub bottle but again with Argon/Co2 welds are much nicer and there is less clean up.

and me ....

I bought one of these :-

It will do stick welding and for me TIG was easier to learn , I had done a little O/A welding 30 years ago.
