View Full Version : mig repair

This may be of use to some.
I have owned a Transmig 130 for about 15 years or so.
I have had to repair a couple of faults with the gun from new.
Dismantle the gun and trigger assembly, clean out all the passages, re-assemble.
This cured an erratic weld and gas feed.
I had to do this for the original gun and a new one so I can only assume they are built with no quality control.

Yesterday it again started to play up, wouldn't feed the wire smoothly so wouldn't weld correctly.
I replaced the liner for the wire (had to make one as they didn't have on in the shop)
and also noticed that the spool had a couple of wear marks on the labels so made a couple of 3" dia washers from a plastic milk bottle to smooth the friction out.
I was gob-smacked, it now welds better than it has ever done in the past.
Well worth the effort.
