My son really wanted to build a SC, so we actually got to the welding part last night. He's 11 in a couple of weeks. He tried his hand at welding and did pretty well; better than I did when I first started two summers ago!

Funny thing is when measuring him after the welding, a plans built SC is too big!! He can't even reach the pedals if we added the frame! :1eye: LOL! Sooooooo.....

We've decided to build the Mini-Spini! Making the same thing out of a pixie bike (8" wheel I think...) Pics later! :punk:

You might be able to squeeze by with a 16 inch bmx wheel. Get the front of the sat and the bottom bracket as close to the tire as you can.

Thats brilliant. I'm as jealous as all hell. Neither of my two lads were ever interested in building anything despite all the pushing and guidance I tried along the way.
At least they enjoyed riding the creations so I guess that was something.

Some of us are born with it.
Some of us are dragged kicking and screaming to it.
Some of us never get it.

And turn about is fair play...I'm now an assistant baseball coach for his team...one of the sports I like the least, but I'm good at encouragement! I hope he does well. It will take some father/son work outs. First team sport for him...

As for the MS, we have to get some more garage time to finish it up.

OK, got this thing finished last night, then came in to watch the news and off to bed. Friday school (home school co-op) this morning, pics after school. We're taking it to the park (the same one that gave me stitches two weeks ago) so we should have some good pics of numerous kids testing it out!! Kyle got to test it last night: "Awesome Dad!!" :punk:

This should be a good day!! :sunny:

Thanks Brad! Showed him your post, got a big smile!

OK, so here it is. Needs a couple of touch up welds, cap on the seat post, clean up, paint, and seat cushion. Customized the rear castor mounts because I couldn’t find long bolt castors. Cut the sides, and banged the top down in place. Welded the sides, and capped the end. Drilled the hole and installed the castors! I think it turned out pretty good! All the kids at the co-op waited in line for a long time so each one could ride! Even the girls wanted a turn. No it looks like there may be a spin-cycle class offered soon…in my garage!!

Enjoy:

Crazy fun ride you guys have there. Can't wait to see the shots of kids testing it out when you take it to the park. Say great job to the young master!
