View Full Version : Vigilante Finished

Finally finished! I got the seat back from the upholsterers last evening and bolted it straight on for a test ride. Handles brilliantly - some small wobble at low speed, but it rides just as you described it, Brad.

The slight upstand on the back of the seat is a must have - I tried it without and found that I had to pull on the bars to stay on the seat. This way I can push hard on the pedals and still have one hand free to wave to the crowds...

The brake is barely adequate, but it's really only going to be ridden on the flat so I'm not too worried about that. Next time I'll go with a disc brake, and possible a rear brake as well.

My daughter's coach came round an hour ago and was thrilled when he saw it. It is a very belated Christmas gift for him to say thanks for all he has done for us, and it was great seeing him so pleased.

Brad and Kat - this project has been the most fun I have had building anything for years and years. Thanks a heap for your plans - they are absolutely spot on! We're just starting into our autumn now - it's nothing like yours, though - so I'm busy thinking of which bike I'll start on next to keep me busy through the winter.

Cheers, Phil

Great showing! I like the mid drive setup as well.

We would love to show your favorite pic in the gallery. If you could send one to koolkat at atomiczombie, that would be great.

Moe you have the tools to do a vigilante they are the same tools you use to build all your other chops nothing special. Remember Brad doesnt believe in fancy tools for his builds he makes plans for.

I own ONLY the following tools...

A basic AC welder. I use only 3/32 6013 for all welding.
A small angle grinder
A hand drill
A box wrench set
A small and large hammer
A box of various hand tools

I have nothing else in my garage but junk, ideas and determination.

Which gives the rest of us hope, especially those of us fortunate enough to have things like drill presses, and miter saws (fitted with metal cutting wheels!!)
